Recipe for Happiness

I bake. A lot!! My husband and I both like bananas, so when I bake muffins for my husband's lunch, they are usually banana muffins of some sort. There are some ingredients that I cannot change in my favorite recipe, but there are some ingredients I add that make it EXTRA YUMMY!!! Like chocolate chips. And butterscotch chips. And oh ya, don't forget shredded coconut!!
Mmmmm! I have a sweet tooth, don't you know?!
As I was baking this last batch of my special Banana Explosion muffins, I was noticing how following a recipe is similar to the born-again Christian walk.
There are some ingredients in the recipe that you cannot do without!! Some core ingredients like flour, eggs, or baking powder. It's not a suggestion. It's a necessity if you want your muffins to be edible. To be enjoyed by everyone who tastes them!
Just like in a baking recipe, in the born-again Christian faith, there are foundational truths you cannot remove without changing the gospel itself.
For example:
Salvation by grace through faith
📖 Ephesians 2:8–9
The necessity of being born again
📖 John 3:3
The death and resurrection of Christ
📖 1 Corinthians 15:3–4
If you remove those, you don’t just get a “different flavor” of Christianity — you get a completely different message.
The Bible gives very strong warnings about bringing a different message than the one Jesus and the apostles preached in Galatians 1:6–9 and 2 Corinthians 11:3–4.
Just like removing flour doesn’t give you a new cookie… it gives you a mess and you certainly won't be happy.
Follow the foundation.
Stay faithful to His Word.
And then let Him add the unique “flavor” He designed in you.
Because when the core ingredients are right, the finished product brings glory to the Master Baker.
