Coffee Connections Monthly Newsletter
May 2025 Volume 1, Issue 4
Hey there, Coffee Crew! ☕
Welcome to the May 2025 edition of the Coffee Connections Monthly Newsletter—your favorite blend of inspiration, real talk, and behind-the-scenes scoop from yours truly.
It’s me, Cindy—reporting from beautiful Edmonton, Alberta! I’m your podcast host, newsletter editor-in-chief, graphic design ninja, video wrangler, content queen, and official wearer of all the hats. (Seriously, I need a bigger hat rack.)
April was a whirlwind in the best way possible. One of the biggest highlights? Attending the Womanition BizBrigade Leadership Conference—my first time back in seven years!
Let me tell you, it did not disappoint. The theme was Business Ethics, which might sound a little textbook-y, but hold up... this was the good stuff. The kind of stuff that makes you sit up straighter and go, “Wait... do I really walk my talk in business?”
Because let’s be real: ethical business isn’t just for big corporations—it’s even more critical when you're a small business owner where your name is your brand. And unfortunately, not everyone’s out here playing fair.
A few eyebrow-raising real-life examples
from our own backyard:
-
A contractor ghosts after collecting massive deposits. Oof.
-
Restaurants stuffing their Google reviews like a Thanksgiving turkey.
-
Employers paying newcomers peanuts and banking on their silence.
-
And business owners overhyping their AI tools to the moon... when they barely know how to use Zoom.
Yikes, right?
But don’t worry—it’s not all doom and gloom.
There are also some absolute rockstars out there who show us what it really means to do business with integrity:
-
The plumber who fixed a leak for free—even when it wasn’t his fault.
-
The cleaning company that turns down clients when they’re too booked to deliver.
-
The bakery that pays above minimum wage and celebrates its staff like family.
Now that’s the kind of business energy we love.

Sure, ethical choices may not always lead to instant riches—but they do lead to loyal customers, authentic relationships, and a reputation that money can’t buy.
And that’s what we’re all about here at Coffee Connections—real people, real stories, real impact.
So pour yourself a fresh cup and dive in—because this month’s newsletter is packed with goodness: interviews, insights, and maybe even a little inspiration to keep your own business dreams percolating. Let’s get brewing! 👇
Let's Talk Classic Cars 🙃
Meet our Classic Car Guy, Steve!
My name is Steve, and I’m the proud owner of Bright World Restoration. After many wonderful years in the automotive restoration business — and later dabbling in small woodworking projects — I’ve decided it’s time to start a new chapter. I’m turning 75 this year, and while I’m hanging up some of my tools, I’m excited to spend more time doing the things I love, just for me.
I still enjoy attending car shows whenever I can, especially showing off my father’s beautifully restored 1978 Cutlass Supreme. Some hobbies are meant to be savored, and now I finally have the time to truly enjoy them.
A bit about my background: I’m a lifelong aviation enthusiast and had the opportunity to work in the aircraft industry years ago, building sections for the L1011, Boeing 707, and even the famous T-33. These days, I spend part of my time back in my hometown of Saskatoon — a lively hub for hot rods and muscle cars. It's a community that’s always had a passion for beautiful builds. One of my proudest projects was a 1955 Chevy I built while working at a local body shop; it became quite a well-known car around town.

If you’re a car lover, I highly recommend visiting a car show once or twice a year. There’s always something new to see — from fresh ideas to stunning new builds — and, of course, a chance to admire the timeless classics from the ’60s and ’70s. I was lucky enough to own quite a few cars from that era, and let me tell you, the craftsmanship and dedication that goes into restoring these beauties from rust buckets to showpieces is truly incredible.
Hope to see you around the next show!
